USI Hands Hawks 2-1 Defeat

QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University men's soccer team and Southern Indiana went into halftime scoreless, but the Screaming Eagles outscored the Hawks, 2-1, in the second half to edge out a victory in GLVC play at Legends Stadium Friday (Sept. 16) night.

What Went Down
--- The Hawks controlled much of the possession in the game, especially in the first half, but the Screaming Eagles looked dangerous in the counterattack, out-shooting the Hawks, 6-3, before halftime.
 
--- The game opened up even more in the second half as the teams combined for 20 shots – 12 for the home team.
 
--- Southern Indiana struck first, in the 65th minute, as Eric Ramirez got on the end of a long free kick and redirected it in from the six-yard box to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.
 
--- Just two minutes later, the Hawks equalized. Quincy won a turnover in the final third and sophomore Eddie Plesha (Normal, Ill./Normal Community) slotted home the finish. It was his first goal of the season.
 
--- The Screaming Eagles answered and notched the game-winner in the 80th minute. Riley Belding came free on the left side of the box off a pass from Kyle Richardville and scored to the back post.
 
--- The Hawks were able to manage just one more shot the rest of the game.
