Lady Hawks Take on Drury in the Big Dance

QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's basketball team will play Drury University in the first round of the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament on Friday, March 11th, in Ashland, Ohio. QU earned the fifth seed in the Midwest Region and DU was selected fourth. The Lady Hawks and Panthers tip-off at 6:30 p.m. CT at host Ashland University.

Five Fun Facts
- The last time the Lady Hawks were in the Midwest Regional Tournament was 2013-14. QU traveled to Springfield, Mo. where they defeated Northern Michigan, 65-58, before falling to Drury, 78-58. The last time QU played in the Midwest Regional at Ashland, Ohio was in 2011-12. The Lady Hawks defeated Northern Kentucky 75-65 in the first round. QU fell to Ashland 71-69 in the second round.

- The Lady Hawks fell at Drury, 76-65, on Jan. 28 this season in their only meeting. Erin Mennemeyer scored a career-high 29 points in the game. Kara Gerbus had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. QU shot 39.7% from the field and 28.6% from three. Drury was led by Annie Armstrong with 23 points. The Panthers shot 48.2% from the floor and 35% from three.

- Head coach Jeni Garber and senior Maggie Cunningham both hit career milestones on Saturday in the win over Lewis. Garber earned her 100th career victory as a head coach in a big win to send QU to the GLVC Championship. Maggie Cunningham scored her 1,000th point of her career on the final free throw of the game.

- Anika Webster has provided a spark off the bench for the Lady Hawks this season. Webster is averaging 12.4 points per game this season leading the team. That average jumps to 13.2 points per GLVC game. The Springfield, Ill. native averages 4.9 rebounds per game as well. The sophomore scored a career-high 25 points at Rockhurst on Feb. 18th.

- QU has shot 75.2% from the line this season ranking fourth in the GLVC and 32nd in NCAA DII. In the last five minutes of play, the Lady Hawks raise that average to 78.7%. Maggie Cunningham has hit 56-of-62 (90.3%) free throws in the final five minutes of games. Cunningham is second in the GLVC and 20th in NCAA DII shooting 87.4% from the line this season. Kara Gerbus is hitting 79.1% from the line and Carly Beebe is knocking down 78.7%.
