Lady Hawks Prepare for Rematch with Top-Seeded Flyers

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Fourth seeded Quincy University women's basketball advanced to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Tournament semifinals after a win over fifth seeded Truman State University, 62-49, on Thursday, Mar. 3 in St. Charles, Mo. QU will play top seeded Lewis University on Saturday, Mar. 5 at Family Arena at 2:30 p.m. after Lewis won a tight overtime game against the University of Indianapolis, 69-63, Thursday night.

Five Fun Facts
- The third NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings have the Lady Hawks listed at 5th (Page 2). Ashland ranks first with one loss, followed closely by Lewis with one loss as well. Drury ranks third, and Bellarmine is one spot ahead of QU at fourth. The final three spots are filled by GLIAC schools. Saginaw Valley State is sixth, followed by Michigan Tech and Ohio Dominican respectively. The first two out are Ursuline and Saint Joseph's.

- The Cunningham Countdown has reached 8 points with Lewis up next in the GLVC Championship Tournament. Maggie Cunningham scored 17 points in the quarterfinals of the GLVC against Truman State to push her career total to 992 points. Cunningham looks to become the 22nd Lady Hawk to join the 1,000 point club.

- Anika Webster has provided a spark off the bench for the Lady Hawks this season. Webster is averaging 12.3 points per game this season leading the team. That average jumps to 13.2 points per GLVC game. The Springfield, Ill. native averages 5.0 rebounds per game as well. The sophomore scored a career-high 25 points at Rockhurst on Feb. 18th.

- The Lady Hawks lost to Lewis on Feb. 11, 2016 in Pepsi Arena in the only meeting this season. QU struggled shooting, but the defense held the Flyers under 70 points. The Lady Hawks were more efficient in the GLVC quarterfinals shooting 41.7%  from the field and 50% from three. QU will need to improve upon free throw shooting. The Flyers are coming off a tight overtime win against Indianapolis in the night cap of the GLVC Tournament on Thursday. Lewis shot 39.7% from the field and were just 2-of-13 from three.

- QU has shot 75% from the line this season ranking third in the GLVC and 26th in NCAA DII. In the last five minutes of play, the Lady Hawks raise that average to 78.7%. Maggie Cunningham has hit 50-of-54 (92.6%) free throws in the final five minutes of games. Cunningham is second in the GLVC and 18th in NCAA DII shooting 87.6% from the line this season. Anika Webster ranks 13th in the GLVC hitting 75.3% from the foul stripe. Kara Gerbus is hitting 80% from the line and Carly Beebe is knocking down 79.7%.
