Lady Hawks Open GLVC Tournament vs Truman State

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The 22nd ranked Quincy University will open the postseason in St. Charles, Mo. against familiar foe, Truman State University, in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Tournament. Tip-off for the quarterfinal matchup is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, Mar. 3 at Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo. QU is seeded fourth in the GLVC Tournament facing fifth seeded TSU. This will be the third meeting between the two teams this season. The Lady Hawks defeated the Bulldogs in the final game of the regular season (65-53) to earn the first round bye in the GLVC Tournament. Truman defeated the University of Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday, 59-51, in the opening round of the GLVC Championship Tournament at Kirksville, Mo.

- The third NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings have the Lady Hawks listed at 5th (Page 2). Ashland ranks first with one loss, followed closely by Lewis with one loss as well. Drury ranks third, and Bellarmine is one spot ahead of QU at fourth. The final three spots are filled by GLIAC schools. Saginaw Valley State is sixth, followed by Michigan Tech and Ohio Dominican respectively. The first two out are Ursuline and Saint Joseph's.

- The Cunningham Countdown has reached 25 points with postseason play ahead for Maggie Cunningham. The senior has 975 career points entering the GLVC Championship Tournament. Cunningham looks to become the 22nd Lady Hawk to join the 1,000 point club.

- Anika Webster has provided a spark off the bench for the Lady Hawks this season. Webster is averaging 12.4 points per game this season leading the team. That average jumps to 13.2 points per GLVC game. The Springfield, Ill. native averages 5.0 rebounds per game as well. The sophomore scored a career-high 25 points at Rockhurst on Feb. 18th.

- Truman State and Quincy will play for the third time this season. The season series was split during the regular season with both teams winning at home. The last time TSU and QU played in the GLVC Championship Tournament, the Bulldogs won 68-54 in the semifinals on March 8, 2014.

- QU has shot 75.4% from the line this season ranking third in the GLVC and 26th in NCAA DII. In the last five minutes of play, the Lady Hawks raise that average to 78.5%. Maggie Cunningham has hit 50-of-54 (92.6%) free throws in the final five minutes of games. Cunningham is second in the GLVC and 18th in NCAA DII shooting 87.6% from the line this season. Anika Webster ranks 13th in the GLVC hitting 76.4% from the foul stripe. Kara Gerbus is hitting 80% from the line and Carly Beebe is knocking down 78.9%.
