#18 Lady Hawks Fall at Saint Joseph's, 73-63

RENSSELAER, Ind. - The 18th ranked Quincy University women's basketball team struggled offensively at Saint Joseph's College shooting 32.8% from the field in a 73-63 loss. QU was 7-of-25 from three as Nikia Edom hit 5-of-10 from deep to lead the Lady Hawks with 17 points. SJC hit 46.4% of their shots from the field and knocked down 6-of-13 from three.

The Pumas (15-8, 8-5 GLVC) put together runs of six and 11 points in the first quarter to jump out to a 23-13 lead at the end of the first period. 

The Lady Hawks (19-3, 10-3 GLVC) went on a 10-3 run to start the second quarter to pull within three points of SJC. 

The Pumas answered with an 11-point run to end the half to take a 42-29 lead.  SJC extended their lead to 18 points early in the fourth quarter.

The Lady Hawks chipped away to get it back to an eight point deficit with a minute to play. SJC hit 5-of-6 free throws in the final minute to hold off Quincy for a 73-63 win.

QU was led by Nikia Edom with 17 points. Edom hit five triples. Kara Gerbus scored 15 points for the Lady Hawks and Erin Mennemeyer added 12 points. Maggie Cunningham and Carly Beebe each had six assists. Cunningham led QU with nine rebounds.

The Pumas were led by Lauren Davis with 18 points. Laura Furrer scored 17 points, Courtney Kvachkoff added 14 points, and Brittany Morris notched 11 points. Furrer finished with nine rebounds. Davis dished out eight assists.

The Lady Hawks will head back home to Pepsi Arena to welcome No. 8 Lewis University on Thursday, Feb. 11. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
