First Round Bye on the Line in Pepsi Thursday

QUINCY, Ill. - The 23rd ranked Quincy University women's basketball team welcomes Truman State University to Pepsi Arena Thursday (Feb. 25) for Senior Night and the final regular season game. The stakes are high as the winner of QU versus TSU gets a first round bye in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship Tournament. The loser will host a game on Sunday. The Lady Hawks will honor a senior class that has won 75 games over the past four seasons. The senior class of Carly Beebe, Maggie Cunningham, Kara Gerbus, Tori Kuhn, Erin Mennemeyer, and Cierra Young will make their fourth straight trip to the GLVC postseason.

Five Fun Facts Quincy (22-4, 13-4 GLVC)
- The second NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings have the Lady Hawks listed at 5th (Page 2). Ashland ranks first with one loss, followed closely by Lewis with one loss as well. Drury ranks third, and Bellarmine is one spot ahead of QU at fourth. The final three spots are filled by GLIAC schools. Ohio Dominican is fifth, followed by Saginaw Valley and Michigan Tech respectively. The first two out are Grand Valley State and Saint Joseph's.

- The Cunningham Countdown is under 50 with one regular season game left and postseason play for Maggie Cunningham. The senior has 952 career points entering senior night. Cunningham looks to become the 22nd Lady Hawk to join the 1,000 point club.

- Anika Webster has provided a spark off the bench for the Lady Hawks this season. Webster is averaging 12.2 points per game this season leading the team. That average jumps to 13.1 points per GLVC game. The Springfield, Ill. native averages 5.1 rebounds per game as well. The sophomore scored a career-high 25 points at Rockhurst on Thursday.

- Quincy is shooting 40% from three this season ranking sixth in NCAA Division II women's basketball. Nikia Edom has hit 2.04 triples per game while shooting 46.1% ranking 10th in NCAA DII. 

- QU has shot 75.5% from the line this season ranking third in the GLVC and 27th in NCAA DII. In the last five minutes of play, the Lady Hawks raise that average to 79.2%. Maggie Cunningham has hit 48-of-52 (92.3%) free throws in the final five minutes of games. Cunningham is second in the GLVC and 23rd in NCAA DII shooting 87.1% from the line this season. Kara Gerbus is averaging 80% from the line while hitting 52-of-65 ranking 11th in the GLVC in her senior campaign. Anika Webster ranks 15th in the GLVC hitting 75.4% from the foul stripe.

Five Fun Facts Truman State (19-8, 13-4 GLVC)
- Truman State leads the GLVC in scoring defense. The Bulldogs hold opponents to 54.8 points per game ranking eighth in NCAA Division II. 

- Michalina Tomczak leads the GLVC in blocks per game averaging 2.0 blocks. Tomczak also averages 9.8 points per game and 5.8 rebounds.

- Courtney Strait leads the Bulldogs with a 10.1 scoring average. Strait also leads the team with 6.1 rebounds per game.

- The Bulldogs are 6-2 in road conference games entering Thursday's matchup. Truman State is 8-3 overall on the road.

- Rachel Steinhoff led all scorers the last time Quincy and Truman State played this season with 17 points. Steinhoff averages 8.7 points per game, tied with Kasey Gassensmith for third highest point average on the team.
