#18 Truman Defeats Hawks, 1-0; QU Qualifies For Tournament

QUINCY, Ill. – The Quincy University women's soccer team dominated play against No. 18 Truman State, but the Bulldogs scored one first half goal to defeat the Hawks in the regular season finale, 1-0, on Wednesday (Hawktober 26) night at Legends Stadium.

Even with the defeat, the Hawks earned their 11th straight trip to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. They are the No. 7 seed in the bracket and will play No. 2-seed Rockhurst on Sunday in Kansas City. Kickoff time is still to be determined.

On Wednesday, the Hawks controlled possession and had a decided advantage in chances in the penalty area, but they could not get on the board. Quincy (6-9-2, 6-8-1 GLVC) has now lost seven games by a 1-0 score.

Quincy out-shot Truman by a 21-5 total and had an 11-2 lead in shots on goal, but TSU goalkeeper Katie Mattingly made 10 saves and freshman midfielder Alex Severino (St. Louis, Mo./Ursuline) had a shot cleared off the line in the first half.

Junior wing Natalie Quisenberry (St. Louis, Mo./Lafayette) led the Hawks with five shots while sophomore forward Cassidy Foley (Quincy, Ill./Quincy Notre Dame) added three.
