Men's Tennis Wins Thriller over Bloomsburg; Women Sweep

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Quincy University men's and women's tennis teams started their Spring Break trip in Hilton Head, S.C. with a pair of wins on Sunday (Mar. 8) against Bloomsburg University.  The women stayed perfect this season with a sweep of Bloomsburg 9-0.  The QU men had a hard fought match end in a 5-4 win over BU.  The singles matches split right down the middle with three points going to each side.  The doubles matches came down to a marathon at the number one doubles position.  Ian Hinkamper and Ethan Arns took the 9-8 win after a 7-4 tiebreaker.

The Huskies (1-1) took an early lead winning the third doubles match 8-3.

Patrick Kuhle and Ryan McMillan gave the Hawks (4-3) an 8-2 win the second doubles match.

Ian Hinkamper and Ethan Arns went to a tiebreaker in the first doubles match.  With Arns dealing with cramping late in the match, QU pulled off the win 9-8 (7-4).  

Hinkamper won his singles match 6-1, 6-1 to give QU a 3-1 lead, but Bloomsburg won the next three singles matches to take a 4-3 lead.

Patrick Kuhle and Ethan Arns were the two Hawks finishing up their matches.  Both Kuhle and Arns finished with identical scores.  Kuhle won the number two singles match 7-6, 6-4.  Arns replicated that in the number three singles match with a 7-6, 6-4 win.

The Lady Hawks (7-0) made quick work of Bloomsburg (0-1) in doubles play.  The duo of Amy Kuhle and Sydney Lynch won 8-1.  Elizabeth Kuenzi and Gabi Papachrisanthou won 8-0.  The team of Morgan McGinnis and Anna Morrissey won 8-1 in doubles.

Six wins in singles play completed the sweep for the Lady Hawks.  Amy Kuhle turned in a 6-4, 6-1 win in the number one slot.  Syndey Lynch won decisively 6-0, 6-0.  Elizabeth Kuenzi secured a 6-1, 6-0 win in the third singles spot.  Michelle Gass won her singles match 6-4, 6-3.  The fifth singles match was the last to finish, but saw Anna Morrissey win 6-2, 6-3.  Morgan McGinnis won the sixth singles match 6-1, 6-0.

The tennis teams with both play Milligan College tomorrow (Mar. 10) in Hilton Head, S.C.  The matches are scheduled to start at 8 a.m. ET.
