Ferris Defeats QU in Conference Challenge Finale

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Quincy University men's basketball team dropped a 91-68 decision to Ferris State on Sunday (Nov. 15) to wrap up the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge at Fieldhouse Arena.
 
The Hawks (0-2) struggled offensively in the first half and were never able to get back into the game. The Bulldogs (2-0) limited Quincy to 27.8 percent (10-for-36) shooting in the first 20 minutes and held a 45-26 lead at halftime.
 
Quincy also had no answer for Ferris State forward Jared Stolicker, who finished with 24 points on 12-for-13 shooting. The 6-foot-10 Stolicker also corralled a game-high 10 rebounds.
 
Junior forward Joseph Tagarelli (Bayside, Wis./Waunakee/Kirkwood CC) led the Hawks with 16 points and seven rebounds. Junior forward Scottie Bruxvoort (Mitchellville, Iowa/Prairie City Monroe) added 13 points off the bench to go with seven rebounds.
 
Junior guard Herm Senor II (Springfield, Ill./Southeast) and senior guard Thomas Jackson (Louisville, Ky./Cincinnati State) each scored eight points for the Hawks.
 
The Bulldogs shot 60.3 percent (38-for-63) from the field and knocked down eight 3-pointers. Josh Fleming added 20 points for the 'Dogs, while Drew Cushingberry distributed 10 assists.
 
The Hawks won the battle on the boards, 37-34, including a 20-8 advantage on the offensive glass.
 
Quincy will play host to Upper Iowa at Pepsi Arena for the home opener on Wednesday (Nov. 18) at 7:30 p.m.
