Gerbus and Webster Lead QU in Exhibition at Mizzou

QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University women's basketball team played their last tune up game before regular season competition at Mizzou on Monday (Nov. 9). QU scored their first 21 points from behind the 3-point line. The Lady Hawks made their first basket inside the arc with four minutes and 22 seconds to play in the second quarter. Mizzou grabbed shot 59% from the field and 51% from three. The Tigers also grabbed 42 rebounds in a 97-54 win.

The Lady Hawks stayed with Mizzou thanks to timely 3-pointers in the first quarter. QU and MU traded the lead six times in the first seven minutes of play. The Lady Hawks' last lead was gained at the five minute mark by a Kara Gerbus three.

Gerbus scored 14 points for the Lady Hawks knocking down three of six from downtown. The Lady Hawks shot 41% from three with Gerbus leading the way. Megan Wienstroer and Nikia Edom both knocked down two triples.

Anika Webster led the way for the Lady Hawks with 15 points. Webster hit five of eight with three rebounds, but got an early exit with five fouls with five minutes to play in the fourth quarter. The reigning GLVC Co-Freshman of the Year leads the Lady Hawks with 31 points in two exhibitions this season.

The Tigers had five score in double figures. Maddie Stock led the way with 17 points. Sophie Cunningham and Morgan Stock both had 15 points. Lianna Doty and Bri Porter each chipped in 13 points. Jordan Frericks led Mizzou with eight rebounds.

The Lady Hawks will host the Microtel GLVC/GLIAC Challenge this weekend starting with Truman State University against Grand Valley State University at 6 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 14) followed by the Lady Hawks against Northern Michigan University at 8 p.m. all taking place in Pepsi Arena.
