Hawks Fall to Knights 4-1

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Quincy University men's soccer team fell to Bellarmine University, 4-1, Friday (Oct. 16) night. BU attacked QU with 22 shots aiming 12 on net. The Hawks countered with eight shots and four on the mark. The Knights were relentless in the first half with 14 shots.

The Knights (9-5, 7-4 GLVC) struck in the 24th minute. Nathan Jones finished from 15 yards out after a cross was sent from the right side by Magnus Bertilsson.

Ryan Fagan gave the Knights another goal in the 41st minute when he was able to corral a header from Luke Mocherman to finish on the left side of the net.

The Hawks (8-4-1, 7-3-1 GLVC) went into halftime trailing 2-0.

Nathan Jones returned a pass to Magnus Bertilsson in the 59th minute for the Knights. Bertilsson one touched the ball into the net at the far post to give the Knights a three goal lead.

In the 68th minute, Trevor Thompson found Joe Workman opened from 30 yards out. Workman finished upper 90 to extend the BU lead to four goals.

In the 85th minute, the Hawks notched a goal. Kyle Fraser carried the ball down the wing and centered a pass to an elevated David Geerling. Geerling headed it into the net for his third goal of the season.

Nate Griffin finished with seven saves for the Hawks in 90 minutes of work.

The Hawks travel to Evansville, Ind. on Sunday (Oct. 18) to face the University of Southern Indiana at 2:30 p.m.
