Bulldogs Down the Hawks

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Quincy University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 match to Truman State University on Tuesday night (Sept. 30).  TSU hit .302 in the match with 41 kills and seven team blocks.  QU had a .080 hitting percentage with 30 kills and one team block.  

The Hawks (2-12, 0-7 GLVC) kept the first set tight.  QU was tied with the Bulldogs (11-2, 7-0 GLVC) 14-14 when TSU pushed to a four point lead at 20-16.  The Hawks answered with two straight points to push the score to 20-18.  Truman State scored the next four points to serve set point.  The Hawks staved off set point with a TSU service error and a kill by Emily Lindemulder, but the Bulldogs finished the set with a kill by Allie Brak.

QU and TSU were tied 11-11 in the second set.  Truman State went on a 14-4 run to finish the set and take a 2-0 lead with a 25-15 set win.

The Bulldogs finished off the match with a 25-14 third set win.

Samantha Haegele led the Hawks with seven kills.  Sommer Holder had 17 digs and Rachael Binash posted 13 assists.  

The Bulldogs were led by Kayla Bastian with 12 kills and Allie Brak with 11 kills.  Meghan Zimmerman had 36 assists on the night.  Ali Patterson accounted for two solo blocks and two block assists.  

The Hawks welcome Rockhurst University on Friday (Oct. 3) at 7:00 p.m. to Pepsi Arena.  The theme of the night is "Pool Party."  Bring your pool gear and have a chance to win prizes.
