No. 11 Hawks Blank Knights, Add Goal Late

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The No. 11 Quincy University men's soccer team recorded their fifth clean sheet of the season against Bellarmine University on Friday (Sept. 19).  QU took 14 shots with four on goal.  BU recorded 12 shots with four on goal, but Drew Duncan kept the Knights out of the net.  Xhovani Dokaj broke free late for the game-winner in the 83rd minute on a lead pass from Steve McAnany.

The No. 11 Hawks (6-0, 3-0 GLVC) tried to get the offense rolling early, but Bellarmine (2-3-1, 0-2-1 GLVC) made two saves and blocked three shots to keep the Hawks off the board in the first 18 minutes.  

The Hawks had two corners late, but could not produce a shot on goal before half.

The Hawks broke through the Knight defense in the 83rd minute when Steve McAnany connected on a lead pass to Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Player of the Week Xhovani Dokaj.  Dokaj shed the defender and buried a shot in the right corner for the game-winner and his fifth goal of the season.

Drew Duncan made two saves in the final 10 minutes to secure his fifth shutout of the season.  Duncan made four saves in net on the night.

Dokaj now has five goals, five assists, and three game-winners in six games.  Steve McAnany picked up his first assist of the season.

The No. 11 Hawks will face McKendree University in their next Great Lakes Valley Conference match on Sunday (Sept. 21).  The game will start at 2:30 p.m. in Lebanon, Ill.
