The Lady Hawks Fall in Shootout at Lincoln

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - The Quincy University women's basketball team fell to Lincoln University 90-79 on Saturday (Nov. 29).  QU turned the ball over 22 times and LU took advantage scoring 33 points off of turnovers.  Both teams shot well from the field.  The Lady Hawks shot 50.8% from the field and 50% from three, but the Blue Tigers hit 54.7% of their shots and 44.4% from three.

The Blue Tigers (4-1) scored the first 12 points of the game putting QU (2-3) in an early deficit.

The Lady Hawks quickly turned the tide with a 20-point run to take an eight point lead.  QU held LU scoreless for 5 minutes and 27 seconds.  Carly Beebe drained two threes in that stretch and Carly Bettenourt also knocked down a trey.

The Blue Tigers responded with eight straight points to tie the game at 22-22.  Tori Kuhn knocked down a jumper to regain the lead, but Lincoln went on a 13-point run to take a 35-24 lead.

The Blue Tigers took a 38-29 lead into halftime.

There was a barrage of made shots in the first two minutes of the second half.  Lincoln came out with a 46-38 lead.  The Blue Tigers missed the first shot of the second half after two minutes and 14 seconds of scoring.

The Blue Tigers went on to win 90-79.

The Lady Hawks were led by Tori Kuhn with 14 points and eight rebounds.  Kara Gerbus scored 13 points.  Anika Webster tallied 11 points off the bench.  Carly Bettencourt scored in double-figures for the third straight game.  She totaled 10 points and a career-high eight assists.  

The Lady Hawks return home to play Hannibal-LaGrange University on Tuesday, Dec. 2.  Tip-off in Pepsi Arena is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
