50 Years of Quincy Men's Soccer: 1994-2003

This is the fourth in a series of five articles chronicling the first 50 years of Quincy University men's soccer. Each article will feature one decade of the program's history. This installment takes a look at the first decade from 1994 to 2003.
 
The Hawks opened their fourth decade in 1994 by joining the Mid-Continent Conference (now known as the Summit League). Quincy went 8-8-4 overall and 3-4-1 in conference play.
 
The following year, Quincy played its final season in the conference and at the Division I level and finished 5-9-1 overall with a 3-4-1 mark in conference play.
 
In 1996, the Hawks made the move to NCAA Division II and played its inaugural season in the Great Lakes Valley Conference where the school still resides today. Quincy went 12-9-2 at the D-II level and was 8-3 in conference play. The Hawks finished third in the conference standings.
 
The Hawks were 14-7-1 in 1997, despite getting off to a 3-5 start. They also finished with an 8-3 record in conference play and were fourth in the league standings.
 
Quincy had a terrific season in 1998, going 14-4-2 and advancing to their first-ever NCAA Tournament. The Hawks finished second in the conference standings with a 9-1-1 record and made it to the GLVC Tournament semifinal. Quincy's season came to an end in the first round of the NCAA Tournament as the Hawks were defeated, 3-2 in double overtime, by the Bulldogs.
 
In 1999, the Hawks reeled off a six-game winning streak in which they did not allow a goal and finished the season 9-9-2 and 7-3-1 in GLVC play.
 
The Hawks were 15-6 overall in 2000 and won their final five conference games to finish with a 9-2 record – tied atop the conference standings. Quincy advanced to the GLVC championship game for the first time in its history, but UW-Parkside claimed the title with a 2-0 win over the Hawks. QU had one-goal wins over Indianapolis and SIU-Edwardsville to advance to the championship.
 
In 2001, the Hawks finished with an 11-7-1 record overall and a 5-5 mark in conference play. Quincy advanced to the GLVC Tournament semifinal, but could not get past SIUE, 2-0.
 
Quincy went 10-6-2 overall and 6-2-2 in GLVC play in 2002 and then finished 9-9-2 (5-4-1 GLVC) in 2003.
