Quincy University Hawks

Mike Carpenter enters his 15th season as head coach of the Quincy University men's soccer program in 2026.

Carpenter owns a career record of 126-96-30 during his tenure with the Hawks and has established Quincy as one of the GLVC's top programs. Under his leadership, Quincy has earned four NCAA Tournament appearances, two No. 1 seeds in the GLVC Tournament, and advanced to the NCAA Division II National Semifinals in 2014.

The 2014 season marked one of the greatest years in program history as the Hawks finished the regular season undefeated, tied the school record with 21 victories, and set a program record with 15 shutouts. Following the season, Carpenter was named both the GLVC and Midwest Region Coach of the Year. That year's team also swept the GLVC's major postseason awards, with Jordan Roberts earning Offensive Player of the Year, Chris Garavaglia claiming Defensive Player of the Year, and Artan Emini being named Freshman of the Year. Taylor Reis continued the Hawks' success in 2015 by earning GLVC Offensive Player of the Year honors.

After a brief rebuilding stretch, Carpenter guided the Hawks back to the GLVC Tournament in 2025, finishing 8-7-3 overall and 6-6-2 in conference play. Quincy secured its first conference tournament appearance since 2020-21 while posting its highest win total since that season, signaling the program's return to postseason contention.

Throughout his tenure, Carpenter has coached 18 All-Region selections, five All-Americans, four Academic All-Americans, and four GLVC major award winners.

Prior to being named head coach in July 2012, Carpenter spent nine seasons on the Quincy coaching staff under Jack Mackenzie, including his final season as associate head coach. During that span, the Hawks posted seven winning seasons, advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2010 for the first time since 1998, and captured the program's first-ever GLVC Tournament championship in 2011. Carpenter's responsibilities included assisting in all aspects of the program while serving as the team's lead goalkeeper trainer and recruiting coordinator.

A 2002 graduate of Quincy University, Carpenter earned his bachelor's degree in business and marketing before completing his master's degree in communications. He was a four-year member of the Hawks from 1997-2001, finishing his collegiate career with a 1.13 goals-against average as the program's starting goalkeeper. Carpenter also holds a National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
