Biography

2025-26 (Freshman): Westbrook made his collegiate debut for the Hawks during the 2025-26 season, finishing with a 9-16 overall record and a .360 win percentage. He also saw time in dual action, going 0-5 overall and 0-4 in conference matchups while gaining valuable experience in the Quincy lineup.

Westbrook proved to be a strong finisher during his freshman campaign, recording seven falls, which tied for the team lead, along with two tech falls. He made his collegiate debut at the Service Salute Open (11/8/25), where he earned a sixth-place finish. Westbrook followed with another podium finish at the Luther College Open (11/15/25), placing sixth for the second straight tournament.

Personal: Westbrook is from Sterling, Illinois, where he graduated from Sterling High School and competed for the Golden Warriors. A strong student-athlete, Zyan was a member of the National Honor Society and participated in both cross country and wrestling.

On the mat, Westbrook put together an impressive high school career. He became a 2025 4x Carson Dejarnett Champion, an honor earned by only eight athletes in 47 years, and placed fourth at the 2023 IWCOA State Championship. He was also an IHSA Class 2A conference, regional, and sectional champion, while qualifying for the IHSA Class 2A State Championship and Fargo Nationals.

In Sterling High School wrestling history, Westbrook ranks second in single-season technical falls, fourth in career technical falls, 14th in career pins, and 20th in career major decisions.

Zyan is the son of Dustin Westbrook and Brennecke Hutchison and has one sibling, Zaden. His father, Dustin, competed in the pole vault at Illinois State University from 1999 to 2002. In his free time, Zyan enjoys disc golf, video games, and hunting. His favorite wrestler is Parker Keckeisen, and he follows Iowa, Penn State, Oklahoma State, and Cornell wrestling.
