Personal: James Smith, from Osceola, Indiana, is a graduate of Penn High School, where he wrestled for the Kingsmen and earned Academic All-State honors. He was also an Indiana High School State Qualifier, showcasing both his academic dedication and athletic talent. Before transferring to Quincy University, James spent the 2021–2022 season at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, where he redshirted as a member of the men’s wrestling team.

The son of Russell Smith and Pattie Hummer, James has a brother, Robert, and a sister, Amber. Outside of wrestling, he enjoys playing video games, cheering for the Chicago White Sox, and looks up to Michael Jordan as a role model. He is also passionate about helping people with disabilities.
