Biography
Career (2023-24): In her short collegiate stint with the Hawks, Luna helped Quincy to back-to-back NCAA tournament appearances, where the Hawks had a 49-12 record, only losing one game in Pepsi Arena (19-1). She saw action in 60 matches for a total of 220 sets, where she had 520 kills (2.36 K/S), 56 service aces, 554 digs (2.52 D/S), and 77 total blocks for a total of 618.0 points (2.81 P/S).Â

2024 (Graduate): In her final season, Luna appeared in all 31 matches, starting in 29, where she totaled 110 sets. She had 272 kills (2.47 K/S), 37 service aces, 265 digs (2.41 D/S), and 30 total blocks for 326.5 points (2.97 P/S). Luna had 12 games with double-digit kills, including a career game in the NCAA tournament against Grand Valley State (12/5/24), where she totaled 25 kills.

2023 (Graduate): In her first season with the Hawks, Luna appeared and started in 29 matches, totaling 110 sets, where she had 248 kills (2.25 K/S), 19 service aces, 289 digs (2.63 D/S), and 47 total blocks for a total of 291.5 points (2.65 P/S). She made her debut in a Hawk uniform against Tiffin (9/1/23), where she had seven kills, one service ace, 11 digs, and four total blocks. She had a season-high 15 kills in a five-set win over Upper Iowa (9/9/23).

Personal: Luna van Baars is from Eindhoven, Netherlands, and graduated from Augustinianum. She is the daughter of Gegor van Baars and Marcelle Motmans and has two siblings, Axel and Enno van Baars. Luna completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Tilburg University, where she studied for three years.
Athletically, Luna brings a strong volleyball background, having trained for several years at the Regional Talent Centre in the Netherlands. This program offers specialized, high-level instruction focused on individual skills development among a select group of regional athletes, underscoring her dedication and competitive experience in the sport.
Outside of volleyball and academics, Luna enjoys a variety of creative and enriching activities, including writing, reading, and spending time outdoors.
