Rob Mullowney joined the Quincy University coaching staff in January of 2012. Mullowney serves as an assistant coach for the women's volleyball team and assists the men's team, as well.
Mullowney brings an extensive coaching background having spent the last nine years coaching at the collegiate level. Mullowney joins Quincy after serving as the head coach at Roger Williams University in 2011. There he helped guide the team to a 28-4 record advancing to the NCAA Tournament and setting a program record for highest win percentage and longest win streak.
Prior to Roger Williams he served as the head coach at both Wentworth Institute of Technology, as men's head coach, and U.S. Coast Guard Academy, as the women's head coach. He put together a combined 130-55 record while recording a 20-win season at Wentworth and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament with the Coast Guard Academy with a 30-win season.
Mullowney began his coaching career as an Assistant Coach with Haverford College in 2003. He followed with assistant coach stints at Smith College, Elms College and Newbury College.
Overall Mullowney has recorded a 158-59 overall record, both men's and women's record combined, and guided three teams to the NCAA Tournament. He has coached five All-Americans and one Academic All-American. In 2011, Mullowney was a recipient of the AVCA's Thirty Under 30 Award which honors thirty of the up-and-coming volleyball coaches under 30 years old at all levels of the game.
Mullowney has coached at numerous coaching clinics including the AVCA Convention, Nike Volleyball Camp and Bentley Volleyball Camp. He has earned his USA Volleyball CAP Level I certification and is a member of the AVCA.
Mullowney graduated from Haverford College in 2005 with a B.S. in Mathematics, with a concentration in Mathematical Economics and a Minor in Chemistry. He earned his Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Studies from Smith College in 2007.
Mullowney was a four year captain, and two year coach, while playing collegiately with the Haverford Men's Club Volleyball program. He was also a two year member of the men's soccer team and was named to the Academic Honor Roll in 2002.
