Biography
Personal: Hailing from Pensacola, Florida, Shelby Smith attended West Florida High School, where she competed as a Jaguar in swimming and track. She is the daughter of Rebecca and Sam Smith and has a sibling, Kaybella Smith. Academically driven, Shelby was a member of the National Honor Society and achieved an impressive milestone, earning her associate degree from PSC in May 2024 while simultaneously graduating from high school.
Shelby’s athletic career was equally remarkable. She excelled in both swimming and track, qualifying for the state championships all four years in individual and relay events. As a swimmer, she competed in the 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 2A FHSAA Swimming & Diving State Championships, demonstrating her consistency and talent in the sport. She also participated in track throughout her freshman, sophomore, and junior years.
Outside of sports and academics, Shelby enjoys reading, shopping, and eating, as well as working as a swim instructor and church preschool teacher. She admires Katie Ledecky and looks up to her achievements in swimming.

I chose QU so I could continue my journey as a swimmer, but also because they have an amazing program for actuarial mathematics and internships that could really help me thrive in my dream career field.
