Kathelene Kim enters her fifth season as head coach of the Quincy University women's lacrosse program.
Kim was named the first head coach of women's lacrosse in the history of Quincy University in 2018. In her first year, Kim led the Hawks in their inaugural season in 2020 by picking up two wins in a season that was shortened by COVID-19.
She was named Great Lakes Valley Conference Coach of the Year in the Spring of 2022 after taking the team from just two wins in 2021 to six wins, including the Hawks' first conference win in program history.
Kim led the Hawks to their best season in 2024, finishing with eight wins and four conference wins that propelled the Hawks to the GLVC Conference tournament for the first time. When Quincy faced #6 Maryville for the second time in the season, the Hawks were one of two teams at the time to score ten goals on the Saints, and to keep them to under 20 goals. The Hawks and Saints faced each other again in the conference tournament where the Saints overtook the Hawks 23-7. Goalkeeper Kelly McClure, Kim's first signee, was named goalkeeper of the year in the GLVC.
Kim came to Quincy University after spending the last two seasons at Queens University of Charlotte, in North Carolina. In 2018, Queens won its fifth straight SAC Conference Tournament Championship.
While at Queens, Kim helped lead the team to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2017 and finished the season ranked #8 in the country. Queens also captured the 2017 SAC regular season and conference championships. Kim coached 14 all-conference players during her time at Queens and 3 All-Americans.
Kim previously spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Lenoir-Rhyne University, including spending time as the acting head coach. Lenoir-Rhyne finished each season with a winning record with Kim on staff. She coached a pair of All-Americans during her time at Lenoir-Rhyne.
Prior to Lenoir-Rhyne, Kim was the Head Girls Lacrosse Coach at Pennsauken High School coaching Varsity and overseeing both JV and Freshman teams. While at PHS, the team made playoffs.
Kim interned with the Pennsylvania State University Women's Lacrosse team during their 2013 season, while also serving as a volunteer coach at Bellefonte Area High School.
Kim played collegiately at Penn State-Abington where she served as team captain. She was also a member of the cross country team. Kim graduated from Penn State University in 2013 with a BS in Kinesiology. Kim received her MBA from Lenoir-Rhyne University in 2016.
