Stephanie Gongaware begins her second season with the Hawks after coming back to Quincy University two years removed from graduating from QU with a bachelor degree in physical education. Â Gongaware, formerly Wagner, played basketball for the Lady Hawks from 2008-11. Â Gongaware scored 722 points in 57 games shooting an even 50% from the field and 49.8% from three-point range. Â She knocked down 164 three-point field goals in her career averaging 12.7 points per game. Â Gongaware also dished out 138 assists and gathered 160 rebounds in two full seasons of play.Â
Gongaware set Quincy University records in most three-point field goals in a season (114), best three-point field goal percentage in a season (52.3%), and second in most three-point field goals in a career (164). Â She led the nation in three-point field goal percentage in 2010-11 (52.3%) and was second in the nation in three-point field goals made (3.8). Â She also ranked fifth in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.50). Â Gongaware was selected to the All-GLVC Second Team and the All-Region Second Team in 2010-11.
Gongaware worked with Western Middle School as the assistant girls basketball coach from 2012-13. Â She also handled head coaching duties for the seventh grade Quincy Notre Dame Lady Aces basketball team during that time. Â
Most recently, Gongaware worked as a personal trainer at Planet Fitness providing a variety of exercises to meet client goals and support proper training techniques.
Gongaware will be entering her second year of graduate studies in education with a concentration in leadership.
