Dale Linderwell

Dale Linderwell is entering his second season as an assistant with the Hawks after relocating from Dubuque, Iowa, where he roamed the sidelines for six seasons as an assistant at Clarke University under the direction of head coach Courtney Boyd. Linderwell helped lead the program to five consecutive berths in the NAIA National Tournament, resulting in one Sweet 16 finish (2022), two quarterfinal finishes (2019 & 2021) and capping it all off with the 2023 NAIA National Championship this past winter.

With the Pride, some of Linderwell’s main responsibilities included the scheduling of non-conference contests, creating itineraries for overnight trips, designing team apparel and uniforms as needed, and assisting in research for national ranking submissions. On the court, Linderwell directed offensive schemes and guard skills.

Clarke broke or tied the program record for wins in a season five times during the six-year span setting the final bar at 33 wins during the 2022-23 season. Two times over that period, Clarke landed a spot on the WBCA Honor Roll, finishing 22nd (2022) and 20th (2021) for team GPA. Clarke was a mainstay in the National Top 25 Coaches Poll, being ranked in the Top 20 for a stretch of twenty-six straight releases. During three sperate seasons, the Pride climbed into the Top 10, landing as high as #5 during the 2022-23 season.

Before his time with the Pride, Linderwell had nine years of previous coaching experience. His most recent stop was at Hempstead High School in Dubuque where he spent six seasons as an assistant on the varsity staff and many of those seasons doubling as the head sophomore coach. Over his tenure, the Mustangs won three Dubuque City Titles. Prior to that, he started his coaching career at Starmont High School in Arlington, Iowa, where he served as the assistant varsity coach and head JV coach from 2008-2011.

A 2004 graduate of West Delaware High School in Manchester, Iowa, Linderwell earned his bachelor’s degree from Iowa Wesleyan College in 2008 double majoring in sport management and business marketing. While in college, he participated as a member of the track and field team and earned the NAIA Champion of Character Award during his sophomore season. Linderwell completed his Masters of Business Administration from Clarke this spring.Â
