Courtney Belger enters his second season as an assistant coach with the Quincy University women's basketball program in 2026-27, serving as the Hawks' lead player development and recruiting coach.
Belger brings an extensive basketball background to the program, including 11 years of professional playing experience overseas along with coaching experience at the collegiate and professional levels. His role with the Hawks focuses heavily on player development and recruiting, using his international playing experience to help prepare student-athletes for success on and off the court.
Prior to returning to Quincy, Belger served as an assistant coach at John Wood Community College during the 2024-25 season, where he also oversaw the program's strength and conditioning efforts. He previously spent the 2019-20 season as an assistant coach with the Sydney Uni Flames of Australia's Women's National Basketball League (WNBL).
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Belger played collegiately at Quincy University from 2008-12 as a point guard. During his career with the Hawks, he helped Quincy capture the 2010 GLVC regular season championship and advance to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. Individually, Belger earned Second Team All-GLVC and GLVC All-Defensive Team honors.
Following his collegiate career, Belger embarked on an 11-year professional playing career overseas, gaining extensive international experience and developing a strong background in player development, preparation and performance at the professional level.
Belger also co-founded 25 Eight Mentality with his wife and Quincy head women's basketball coach, Ali Schwagmeyer-Belger. The AAU basketball and player development organization focuses on skill development, training, mentorship and helping athletes develop a competitive mentality.
Belger graduated from Quincy University in 2012 with a bachelor's degree. He and Ali have twins. Outside of basketball, he enjoys lifting weights, watching WNBA games and listening to music.
