Quincy University Hawks

2021 (Sophomore): Played in 38 games, started in 37. Accumulated 41 hits in 117 ABs for a .350 average. Hit 4 doubles, 3 home runs, driving in 15. On base percentage of .402, .462 slugging percentage with 54 total bases.

2020 (Freshman): Started all 16 games, and accumulated a total of 12 hits with three doubles, ending with a batting average of .250, an on base percentage of .308, and a .313 slugging percentage with 15 total bases.

Background:
Downen is a Waterloo, IL native and is a Chemistry major at Quincy University. Downen is the daughter of David & Tina and has an older sister Catherine (23). Downen is a graduate of Waterloo High School, where she ended her education with a 3.70 GPA. Downen was an active member of student council (2015-2019), class historian (2018-2019), class treasurer (2016-2018). Downen earned four varsity letters and was named team MVP in 2018 and 2019. 

Why I chose QU
I chose QU because the campus felt like home. When I arrived at Quincy everyone that I encountered was so nice and welcoming. I knew I wanted to continue my athletic career and Quincy felt like the right fit. After talking to Coach Car, I knew I wanted to be a part of her program. I am also majoring in chemistry, and Quincy University has a great science department here.
