Biography

Personal: Jeronimo Martinez Barragan, a freshman from Tunja, Colombia, attended Colegio Virtual Siglo XXI. A high-achieving student, he earned the highest ICFES score in his graduating class of 2022.

In the pool, Jeronimo has established himself as a national-level competitor. He became the Colombian national champion in the 800 and 1500 meters freestyle for the 15-16 age group and secured a runner-up finish in the 5-kilometer open water event. Consistently ranking in the top five nationally in his age group, he boasts impressive personal bests, including a 400m freestyle time of 4:22.94, an 800m freestyle time of 9:03.36, and a 1500m freestyle time of 17:24.94.

Outside of the pool, Jeronimo enjoys playing guitar, reading, and cooking. He looks up to elite swimmers like Florian Wellbrock, Katie Ledecky, and Caeleb Dressel. A dedicated athlete and student, he also supports the Cincinnati Bengals.
