Biography

Career: Taylor spent four seasons with the Hawks, competing in 35 tournaments and totaling 85.5 rounds. He finished his career with 6,630 strokes and averaged 77.5 strokes per round.

Taylor led Quincy in four tournaments during his career and captured two individual tournament titles. He also recorded seven additional top-10 finishes, establishing himself as one of the Hawks’ most consistent performers throughout his time in the program.

2025-26 (Senior): Taylor was the only Hawk to compete in all 10 tournaments during his senior season, totaling 24.5 rounds. He led Quincy with a 75.5 stroke average, finishing the year with 1,851 strokes while leading the Hawks in two tournaments.

Taylor’s top performance came at the Bearcat Dual Gender (10/20-21/25), where he earned medalist honors after shooting a 219 (+3) with rounds of 80, 67, and 72. His second-round 67 marked his low round of the season. Taylor also placed sixth at the Flyers Fall Intercollegiate (10/6-7/25) with a 226 (+10) and tied for eighth at the Dan Salisbury Memorial (3/23-24/26) after shooting an even-par 144.

2024-25 (Junior): Taylor competed in all nine tournaments for the Hawks during his junior season, totaling 23 rounds. He finished the year with 1,781 strokes and averaged 77.4 strokes per round. Taylor’s top finish came at the Konzem-Capra Invitational, where he tied for 10th overall. He also carded his low round of the season with a 68 at the Ken Partridge Invitational (4/6-8/25).

2023-24 (Sophomore): Taylor was the lone Hawk to compete in all 10 tournaments during his sophomore season, totaling 23 rounds. He finished the year with a 78.3 stroke average and led Quincy in three tournaments.

Taylor’s top performance came at the Wildcat Fall Classic (10/15-16/23), where he earned medalist honors after shooting an even-par 144. He also added a top-five finish at the Klash in Kentucky (4/23-24/24), placing fourth after shooting a 151 (+7).

2022-23 (Freshman): Taylor competed in six tournaments during his freshman season with the Hawks, totaling 15 rounds. He averaged 78.7 strokes per round and recorded two top-10 finishes.

Taylor made his collegiate debut at the Arch Cup (9/6/22), where he tied for 67th out of 88 golfers after shooting a 156 (+14) with rounds of 80 and 76. His best finish came at the Culver-Stockton Invitational (4/2-3/23), where he placed third after shooting a 151 (+7). Taylor also added a tied-for-seventh finish at the Quincy University Invite (4/10-11/23).

Personal: Taylor travels south to join the Quincy golf team, as he is from Macomb, Illinois, where he graduated from Macomb High School. A multi-sport athlete, he was named First Team All-Conference in baseball during his junior and senior years and earned All-Conference honors in golf as a sophomore, junior, and senior. His contributions helped the golf team qualify for the Class 2A State Tournament for three consecutive years (2019-2021) and led the baseball team to a Class 2A Regional Championship in 2021.

Individually, Griffin achieved a career-best tournament round of 66 (-5) and was part of a historic Macomb High School golf team that broke every school record. His team’s success earned them a prestigious invitation to the National High School Golf Association (NHSGA) Invitational at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina.

Off the course, Griffin is supported by his mother, Margaret Taylor, and brother, Drew. He enjoys cooking and playing PlayStation in his free time and is a fan of Tiger Woods and Aaron Rodgers, as well as the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs.
