CJ Gleaton is in his second season as Assistant Coach for Quincy University Men’s basketball program.
Prior to QU, Gleaton spent two years (2016-2018) at Clemson University, where he served as the graduate assistant for the Tigers men’s team.
During his time at Clemson, the Tigers enjoyed success on the hardwood. In 2016-17, the Tigers went 17-16 but returned a stellar group for the 2018-19 campaign. Gleaton was part of a Clemson squad that went 25-10 and reached the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2011. Their season ended with an 80-76 loss to No. 1 seed Kansas in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Tigers finished tied for third in arguably the toughest conference in the nation, the ACC, behind Virginia and Duke. Gleaton was also part of the development of ACC Second Team All-Conference Selection Marcquise Reed and All-Freshman team selection Elijah Thomas.
While a Tiger, Gleaton also received his masters degree in Athletic Leadership.
He graduated high school in 2009 from Pendleton High School in South Carolina. There he was a three-sport standout in football, basketball and baseball. Gleaton had a breakout season as a senior where he was selected to the South Carolina All-State team in each of the three sports.
Upon graduating from high school, he attended Spartanburg Methodist College in South Carolina, where he earned his Associates Degree in Science and played two years of basketball before transferring to Anderson University in South Carolina.
Gleaton played for three seasons at Anderson. He broke his foot heading into what would have been his senior season. Due to the injury, Gleaton was granted a medical redshirt and returned to Anderson as a fifth-year senior. Finally healthy as a senior, C.J. produced in big time fashion for the Trojans. He averaged 16 points per game to go along with eight boards per contest en route to earning Second Team All-Conference honors in the South Atlantic. Gleaton led Anderson in rebounds, rebounds per game and broke the school record for free throws attempts in a season (259). He graduated from Anderson with a Bachelors Degree in Kinesology.
CJ is a native of Anderson, South Carolina. He has a older sister (Tiffany Gleaton), a niece (Tanirian Wilson), and parents (Phyllis & Cedric Gleaton).
