Personal: Raylan Byars, from Springfield, Illinois, attended Springfield High School, where he played for the Senators. A dedicated student-athlete, he earned Academic All-Conference honors twice. He is the son of Lashauda and Ryan Byars and has two siblings, Rylen Byars and Tyshawn Clay. His father, Ryan Byars, played football and graduated from Quincy University in 2006.

Why QU?
I chose QU because it felt like the right choice, and it felt like home. Quincy has been so welcoming, and that is all that it took. My father, Ryan Byars, also played football and graduated from Quincy, so I am following in his footsteps as well.
