Personal: Flannery is from Woodstock, Illinois, and attended Woodstock High School, where he competed for the Blue Streaks. He is the son of Michael and Beth Flannery and has two siblings, Madelyn and Cole. His father, Michael, played baseball at Parkside.

During his high school career, Flannery was a three-sport athlete, competing in football, baseball, and wrestling. He earned First Team All-Conference and All-Area honors in football, recorded more than 200 career strikeouts for the baseball team, and was a two-time sectional qualifier in wrestling.

Away from the field, Flannery enjoys lifting, golfing, and playing video games. His favorite athlete is Reggie White and his favorite sports team is the Green Bay Packers.
