Personal: Broughton is from Springfield, Illinois, and attended Rochester High School. He is the son of Josh and Kelly Broughton and has one older brother, Kaleb. During his high school career, Broughton was a three-sport team captain in football, wrestling, and track and field, while earning Academic All-Conference honors in all three sports.

On the football field, Broughton earned First Team All-State honors, helped Rochester win the 2023 Class 4A State Championship, and helped the Rockets finish as the Class 4A state runner-up in 2025. He also earned All-Conference honors during his career. In track and field, he was a 2024 state qualifier in the 4x400 relay, and in wrestling, he set the Rochester High School record for the fastest pin in a match.

Away from competition, Broughton is an Eagle Scout, participated in three school musicals, and served as team manager for the Rochester girls varsity volleyball team. He enjoys fishing, watersports, outdoor activities, international travel, drawing, cooking, music concerts, and gaming with friends. His favorite athletes are J.J. Watt and Jaxson Dart, while his favorite teams are the Chicago Bears, Chicago Blackhawks, and St. Louis Cardinals.
