Hartenfels is in his second season (2017-18) on the QU football coaching staff and his first as special teams coordinator.
While at Quincy, Hartenfels has been a part of defenses that have ranked 13th in NCAA Division II in defensive touchdowns, 29th in total defense and 25th in passing yards allowed.
Hartenfels came to Quincy from East Los Angeles College where he was the defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach.
Prior to East Los Angeles College, Hartenfels coached at Occidental College in Los Angeles where he was the defensive backs coach, recruiting coordinator and special teams coordinator.
He also spent three years at Oaks Christian High School in Los Angeles as the defensive backs coach and special teams coordinator, winning a state title in 2010. He has also been an assistant coach and operations staff member for the Army All-American Game for the previous eight years.
The Northeastern Pennsylvania native played defensive back at Division II East Stroudsburg University in his home state, serving as a team captain before leaving early to pursue his coaching career in southern California. he later graduated from Ashford University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sport management.
