Phil Schron III is in his first season (2017-18) as a graduate assistant coach at Quincy University. He will coach the linebackers, serve as the assistant special teams coordinator and will function as the Hawks' academic coordinator.
Schron previously spent a season at East Ridge High School in Florida, coaching linebackers. The Knights' defense allowed just 229.7 yards per game and five linebackers were in the top 20 in the district in tackles and tackles for loss.
Prior to coaching, Schron was a three-year letterwinning linebacker and special teams player at Lycoming College in Pennsylvania, finishing third on the team in tackles and second in tackles for loss in 2015. Lycoming won the Middle Atlantic Conference championship in 2013. He appeared in 30 career games and finished with 94 tackles and 10 tackles for loss. He helped the Warriors post a 27-13 record during his four years in the program.
Schron, a native of Albrightsville, Pa., graduated from Lycoming in 2015 with a degree in biology. He is pursuing his master's degree in communications from Quincy.
