Hubbard is in his sixth season (2018-19) on the Quincy University football coaching staff and his first as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. He served as the defensive line coach his first two years, and in 2015, makes his debut as the defensive coordintor. He oversees the Hawks' community service efforts, including the Big Hawk Little Hawk reading program and the annual QU Football Red Cross blood drive.
Under Hubbard in 2016, Quincy produced seven defensive All-GLVC performers. In two seasons, the defense has reached new heights and become a strong force in the Division II landscape. Nationally, Quincy's defense ranked 13th in defensive touchdowns, 25th in passing yards allowed per game and 29th in total defense and tackles for loss. The defense also ranked 37th or better nationally in six other categories.
In 2014, the QU defense had a stellar season, ranking second in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in total defense and run defense. Hubbard coached a pair of All-GLVC players - sophomore defensive linemen Tanner Day and Darius Carey.
Hubbard came to Quincy following the 2012 season after spending seven seasons as the defensive line coach at Catawba College – an NCAA Division II school in Salisbury, N.C. He was also that program's video coordinator, and in his last season, was promoted to co-recruiting coordinator.
Catawba's defensive squad finished in the Top 10 in tackles for loss twice and in the Top 25 in total defense twice. The team was eighth in the country in sacks in 2008. His teams led the South Atlantic Conference in total defense in two seasons and advanced to the NCAA Playoffs in 2004 and 2007.
Hubbard also played at Catawba, graduating in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in communication arts. As a player, Hubbard was a defensive captain and was a first team All-American as a senior and a two-time all-region performer.
Before his promotion to defensive line coach, he assisted for two seasons with the same unit under Jim Tomsula, former head coach of the San Francisco 49ers and currently the defensive line coach of the Washington Redskins.
Hubbard resides in Quincy.
