Quincy University Hawks

2024-25 (Freshman): As a freshman, Gwen made an appearance in 14 games for a total of 58 minutes. She scored nine points, hauled in seven rebounds, and dished out five assists. She made her collegiate debut and scored her first career points in a win over Hannibal-LaGrange (11/26/24).

Personal: Daughter of Travis and Cynthia, Gwyneth O'Connell joins the Hawks from Serena, Illinois. O'Connell is no stranger to the GLVC as her mother, Cynthia was an All-American and GLVC Track & Field Champion at Lewis University. At Serena High School, O'Connell was the FFA Chapter Vice President and was a four-time Section 7 Goat Production Winner. She also held the secretary title for the National Honors socieity in the 2023-24 school year. She ran cross country and played basketball for the Huskers, winning back-to-back conference titles on the court. She has two siblings, Vyvienn and Tanner. 

Why QU? 
I chose QU because as soon as I stepped on campus I fell in love. I absolutely love that it is a Catholic University because my faith is a huge part of me and who I am. I also love the basketball coaches. Everyone is so nice and welcoming and I just feel like I can be myself.
