ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Quincy University football team opened the 2026 season on the road Thursday, falling 38-21 to Concordia University, St. Paul at Sea Foam Stadium. The Hawks held a 14-10 advantage late in the second quarter before the Golden Bears scored 21 unanswered points to take control of the contest.
Concordia-St. Paul struck first with a 24-yard field goal after an interception on Quincy's opening possession, but the Hawks needed just one play to answer.
Collin Parsons broke free for a 72-yard touchdown run, giving QU a 7-3 advantage with 9:21 remaining in the opening quarter.
The Golden Bears responded with an eight-yard touchdown pass later in the period, regaining a 10-7 lead.
Quincy put together its best sustained drive of the night midway through the second quarter. Starting from its own two-yard line, the Hawks marched 98 yards on 10 plays, with Parsons finishing the drive on a 16-yard touchdown run to put QU back in front 14-10.
Momentum shifted in the final minute of the half. Concordia-St. Paul completed a four-play, 60-yard drive with a 17-yard touchdown pass to take a 17-14 lead with 1:01 remaining. Just 21 seconds later, Clarence Chaney intercepted
Bradyn Little and returned it 32 yards for a touchdown, sending the Golden Bears into halftime with a 24-14 advantage.
CSP extended its lead to 31-14 on a 22-yard touchdown run from BJ Davis with 9:07 remaining in the third quarter. The Hawks' defense later kept the deficit at 17 despite the Golden Bears taking possession at the QU 16 following a blocked punt. Quincy pushed CSP backward on the ensuing possession, with
Jordan Elmore and
Eddie Johnson combining for a sack before the Golden Bears were forced to punt.
Quincy found the end zone again early in the fourth. Little helped lead a nine-play, 73-yard drive that ended when he connected with
Derrick Miller for a five-yard touchdown, cutting the deficit to 31-21 with 13:19 remaining. The touchdown reception was the second of Miller's career.
Concordia-St. Paul answered on its next possession, converting a fourth-and-two with a 19-yard Joel Lacy touchdown run to push the advantage back to 17 points at 38-21. Neither side scored again.
Parsons provided the offensive highlight for the Hawks, rushing 11 times for 119 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 10.8 yards per carry. It marked his third career 100-yard rushing performance and second career game with multiple rushing touchdowns. Quincy finished with 149 rushing yards and 301 yards of total offense.
Little completed 17-of-33 passes for 152 yards and one touchdown but was intercepted three times after throwing just six interceptions all of last season. The Golden Bears also brought Little down five times, matching the most sacks the sophomore quarterback has taken in a game after QU allowed five sacks in a game just once during the 2025 campaign.
Tykell Hammers paced the Quincy receiving corps in his collegiate debut, hauling in three passes for 33 yards. Miller added three receptions for 31 yards and a touchdown, while
Jackson Burnett finished with two catches for 31 yards.
Defensively,
Brock Wiley picked up where he left off a season ago, recording a game-high 16 tackles along with a tackle for loss and a pass breakup. It marked the sixth double-digit tackle performance of his career, finishing two shy of his career-high 18 tackles set against Missouri S&T last season.
Taylin Scott added a career-high 11 tackles after recording three tackles across three appearances during his freshman campaign.
Jordan Elmore, making his Quincy debut, joined Wiley and Scott in double figures with 10 tackles while adding 1.5 tackles for loss and half a sack.

Joe Reif was perfect in his collegiate debut, converting all three of his extra-point attempts.
The Hawks return to Quincy for their home opener on Saturday, Sept. 5, hosting Roosevelt University at 1:00 PM at QU Stadium. The contest will serve as Military Appreciation Day, with active-duty military members receiving free admission.
