Hawks Unable to Slow No. 6 Embry-Riddle in Fourth Straight Loss

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Quincy University women's lacrosse team dropped its fourth consecutive game on Saturday morning, falling 21-12 to No. 6 Embry-Riddle at ERAU Lacrosse Field. Despite a strong offensive showing with 12 goals, the Hawks were unable to slow a high-powered Embry-Riddle attack that controlled possession and built separation through the middle quarters.

Embry-Riddle opened the game with three straight goals in the first six minutes before Quincy responded. Anni Moran got the Hawks on the board at the 8:50 mark, followed by a free-position goal from Emily Leal to cut the deficit to 3-2. After two Embry-Riddle goals extended the lead, Amelia Ham scored late in the quarter to make it 5-3 heading into the second.

The second quarter saw Quincy surge early. Alaina Wilkinson scored twice in just over a minute to tie the game at 5-5, capping a 3-0 Hawks run. However, Embry-Riddle responded immediately with a 6-1 stretch to close the half. Moran added a man-up goal during the run, but the Eagles carried an 11-6 advantage into halftime.

Embry-Riddle seized full control in the third quarter, opening with three quick goals to extend the lead to 14-6. Moran stopped the run with a goal off a Wilkinson assist, and later added another to complete a hat trick, but the Eagles continued to capitalize offensively and pushed the margin to 17-8 entering the fourth.

Quincy showed resilience in the final quarter, scoring four goals. Amelia Ham opened the scoring, followed by another Moran goal assisted by Wilkinson. After Embry-Riddle answered with two goals, Leal found the net before Ham added her third goal of the day. Despite the late push, the Hawks were unable to close the gap as Embry-Riddle secured the 21-12 victory.

Embry-Riddle controlled the game through possession and volume shooting, outshooting Quincy 38-20 and holding a significant advantage in draw controls 25-10, limiting Quincy's opportunities throughout the contest. The Eagles also won the ground ball battle 25-16, while Quincy finished with 14 turnovers compared to 16 by Embry-Riddle. The Hawks were efficient in their chances, placing 12 shots on goal and converting multiple free-position opportunities (4-of-6).

Moran led the Hawks offensively with a standout performance, scoring five goals on seven shots. Wilkinson added five points with two goals and three assists, while Amelia Ham contributed three goals and an assist. Leal finished with two goals and one assist, continuing to be a key facilitator in the Hawks' attack.

Defensively, Jenna Lang recorded a career-high four caused turnovers, highlighting a strong effort on the defensive end. Goalkeeper Ava Condos made 11 saves in 53 minutes of action, with Madison Whiting Wagner finishing the contest.

The Hawks will look to get back in the win column as they return home to QU Stadium to host Dominican University of California on Friday, March 27. Opening draw is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
