O'FALLON, Ill. – The Quincy University men's tennis team saw its five-match winning streak come to an end Sunday afternoon, falling 6-1 to McKendree University at O'Fallon Township High School.
McKendree gained early momentum by sweeping the doubles matches to take the opening point.
Quincy's lone point came at the top of the singles lineup as
Inigo Villacampa delivered an impressive performance, defeating #67 nationally ranked and sixth-ranked in the region Stepan Mach in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5. The victory marked Villacampa's fifth consecutive singles win.
McKendree secured the remaining singles matches at Nos. 2 through 6 to claim the team victory. With the result, Quincy moves to 9-3 on the season.
The Hawks will be back in action over Spring Break as they travel to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, to take on Hillsdale College. First serve is scheduled for 11:00 AM CT on Monday, March 16.
