Game One
Quincy had the bats going to start the game, but the Greyhound's defense cleaned up the two infield ground balls and
Alexus Freeman's fly to right field. The Hawks returned the first two outs for the Greyhounds, but Indianapolis's two-out rally created three runs on two hits.
Allyson Maynard tried to create some momentum for the Hawks in the second with a double over the shortstop's head, but Quincy could not convert.
Kaidence Dumas retired
Emma Stieferman in the circle to start the bottom of the second. The Greyhounds tallied another run on a Hawks error, taking their lead to 4-0 in the second.
Quincy's defense sent the Greyhounds back to the dugout for the third in preparation for some excitement in the top of the fourth inning. Freeman got struck by a pitch and moved to third on another Maynard double.
Mykah Hurley walked to load the bases, but a hit back to the pitcher ended the Hawks' chance in the fourth.
Indianapolis found momentum in the bottom of the fourth inning with eight runs on seven hits. The Greyhounds' three doubles and pne home run created seven runs at the start of their side of the fourth. Stieferman came in to finish off the game and allowed one run through before recording a strikeout and ending the inning.
Casey Fronheiser started off the fifth with a single to left and advanced to second on
Isabella Shields's walk. Quincy couldn't bring them in, however, and gave the Greyhounds a win in game one.
Game Two
Indianapolis started with the same energy as game one, scoring four runs on their opening at bats. Quincy struggled against Jayden Casebolt, the Greyounds' pitcher who tops the GLVC in win-loss percentage, and kept quiet through the first two innings on offense.
The Greyhounds tabbed another four runs in the bottom of the second inning, three courtesy of a three-run home run. Freeman retired
Kaelyn Conger and closed the inning with two strikeouts.
Quincy added some runs to their side of the scoreboard with the help of a long ball from Maynard.
Lindsey Fischer came in to pinch run for Freeman and came around on Maynard's home run. The Greyhounds responded with eight runs in the bottom of the inning. Stieferman relieved Freeman at the end of the fourth and closed the inning with a strikeout.
Catherine Nielson pinch hit for
Allison Kaiser and got on base after getting struck by a pitch. Shields drew another walk and
Kinsey Biggerstaff forced a play out of the pitcher to move the runners. Freeman singled up the middle bringing in Shields and Biggerstaff for two more runs. Maynard looked to add to the Hawks momentum in the fifth, but a short ball to shortstop ended the Hawks' day early.
Maynard led the Hawks with four hits and a run. Her and Freeman each pulled two runs in for the Hawks on the day.
Quincy looks to rebound tomorrow with a doubleheader in Sprinfield, Illinois, against the University of Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars.
