QUINCY, Ill. - The Hawks fell in another hard fought GLVC contest to the Bulldogs of Truman State University by an 80-76 final score, despite a career performance from
Camren Kincaid, who poured in 27 points to lead all scorers on 10-12 shooting along with a 4/4 effort from beyond the arch, all bests for him as a Hawk.
TSU built up the first sizable lead of the contest at 15-8 around the 16:30 mark of the first half thanks to a 10-0 run before going on to press the advantage up to double digits at 25-14 with 12:14 remaining.
Quincy responded with a 13-2 run over the next four minutes, getting a pair of threes and a jumper from Kincaid, a three from
El Sieger and a bucket from
Jake Hamilton to even the tally at 27-27 with around eight and a half to play.
The Hawks took the lead late in the half at 34-32 on an
Ethyn Brown layup and maintained a small edge all the way up to their 40-37 advantage at the halftime break.
QU got on a roll to start the second half, building the lead up to double digits at 53-43 by the 12:53 mark on a jumper from Brown.
The Bulldogs continued to hang around, cutting the lead to a possession only to be turned back again by Quincy as the Hawks held on to a 72-64 advantage with 4:36 to play.
Truman State limited QU to just a layup and a pair of free throws the rest of the way as TSU went on a 16-4 run to close out the ballgame.
Quincy shot 44.6% from the field and 41.9% from beyond the arc while holding TSU to 43.1% and 40.7%, respectively. Joining Kincaid in double figures was Brown, who dropped 17 points with three made threes.
The Hawks dropped the rebounding battle 31-36 while Hamilton, Brown and
Logan Robbins paced the team with five boards each.

Thanks to his eight points and three field goals in the contest,
El Sieger has crossed the 750 career points and 250 career field goals thresholds between his time at State Fair Community College, Morton College and Quincy.
