Hawks Bested by TSU

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Without their leading scorer and rebounder, Zion Richardson, the Hawks were faced with the tough task of taking down a Truman State Bulldogs team that was 6-1 in the month of February coming into the contest on Saturday (Feb. 25). TSU shot over 50% as a team in both halves on its way to a 94-55 winner over Quincy.

A pair of free throws from Mason Wujek tied up the score at 2-2 roughly 90 seconds into the game before Truman State went on a 12-2 run to lead by 10 at the first media timeout. QU drew within seven on a three from Anthony McGhee to make it 20-13, but never drew closer as the Bulldogs took a 44-31 lead after the first 20 minutes of play.

TSU continued to apply the pressure in the second half and the Hawks were not able to keep up as it was all Bulldogs from wire-to-wire to deal QU a loss in the Hawks last road game of the season.

Orlando Thomas led a pair of Quincy scorers in double figures with 15 points converting 7-8 from the charity stripe along with a couple three-pointers and three of both rebounds and steals. Mason Wujek added 13 points with a 5-7 effort from the foul line and 4-9 overall from the field.

Nate Shockey did a little bit of everything in his 28 minutes scoring seven while pulling down nine rebounds with three assists plus a block and steal.
