St. Louis, Mo. - The Quincy University women's basketball program fell to the Missouri St. Louis Tritons this afternoon (Feb. 10). Despite a 20-point game for sophomore
Acheampomaa Danso, the Hawks were eight points short in the 68-60 loss.
The Tritons started the game with a three-point foul play within the first fifteen seconds. Once the Hawks regained possession after the extra point play, they went on an 11-point run, sparked by the Hawks' leading scorer Danso. Despite a hot run for the Hawks, the Hawks fell back behind toward the end of the first quarter.
The Hawks continued to battle with the Tritons throughout the game, but fell victim to the Tritons' near .500 shooting percentage and uproar of points from within the paint.
Danso was the only player with points in the double-digits for the Hawks, an unusual occurrance for the Hawks who went on a run with up to four athletes reaching the teens in each of the last few games. Danso and
Cymirah Williams each had nine rebounds while
Mikayla Huffine led the team in assists with four.
The Hawks return to Pepsi Arena for a two-game match-up against Indianapolis on Thursday and Lewis on Saturday.
