Hawks Claim Third Straight Victory in Win at UCM

Warrensburg, Mo. - The Hawks tasted sweet victory for a third straight time in a Friday night (Nov. 21) winner on the road at the Mules of Central Missouri. Sharp shooting from QU, especially in the second half, where the Hawks fired 66.67% from the field as a team, kept Quincy on the right side of a 68-65 final score.

After a Central Missouri bucket to open the game, an Ethyn Brown layup at the 18:27 mark evened the score and found the Hawks never trailing from that point on, as UCM went on to tie the game once more at 11-11, but never took the lead again for the final 38 minutes of the contest.

The Hawks stretched the advantage to as many as seven points in the first half, leading by a couple of possessions for the majority of the first 20 minutes before a Mules bucket with four seconds remaining sent Quincy to the break ahead 29-27.

UCM hung within a score after the first four minutes of the second half before an 11-0 QU run put the Hawks ahead 47-34, good for their largest lead of the game with just under 12 minutes remaining.

Quincy led by double digits with under six minutes to play until a 10-2 Mules run over the next three minutes pulled Central Missouri within two at 62-60.

Over the final two and a half minutes, free throws from Logan Robbins, El Sieger and Jake Hamilton along with a bucket from John Kelly III helped the Hawks weather the storm for a 68-65 winner.

QU shot an efficient 52.8% from the field as a team while holding UCM to 41.8% and just 21.7% from deep. The Hawks also won the rebounding battle, as they have in every game so far this season, this time doing so by four boards (35-31).

Sieger led Quincy in scoring, pouring in 21 points on 8-12 shooting going 3-5 from beyond the arc. Hamilton and Kelly joined Sieger in double figures with 12 and 10, respectfully. Hamilton also led the rebounding effort, finishing a board shy of a double-double with nine, while Camren Kincaid and Robbins finished with five assists apiece to lead the team.
