Hawks End Season on High in Romeoville

Romeoville, Ill. – The Quincy University women's lacrosse program finished their season with a victory on Sunday (Apr. 23), defeating the Lewis Flyers 15-9.

The Hawks rebounded off a tough loss in Indianapolis and began the game with four goals in the first quarter. Senior Bianca Johnson started Quincy off with a goal just over a minute into the game. Bryn Allen continued the momentum shortly after. Amelia Ham and Patricia Chavira each added a point to the tally before the quarter ended.

Danielle Robinson ended the season hot with six goals in the contest, including back-to-back-to-back goals in the third quarter. The final goal of this chain showcased Robinson's grittiness as she placed high pressure on a Lewis clear attempt, intercepted the pass, and took it straight to goal. Robinson finished the season with 57 goals, 7 assists, and 35 ground balls.

Patricia Chavira added two tallies to Quincy's side of the scoreboard. She finished the season leading the team in assists with 16 and reigning second in goals with 33.

Senior Bianca Johnson ended her career as a Hawk with a bang, scoring two goals in the contest. She ended the season with 21 goals and 8 assists and finished her career with 103 combined points.

Josie Szamanda sealed the Hawks' fate in the final quarter with three goals of her own. This put her at 19 goals and 12 assists for the season.

Kelly McClure put up 9 saves in between the pipes on Sunday. She finished the season with 169 saves and has over 600 in her career.

Coach Kathleene Kim finished her fourth season with the Hawks 6-11, 1-5 in GLVC play. Growing a program takes time, but Coach Kim is confident that the team can continue to close the gap between Quincy and its nationally ranked conference opponents. Coach Kim is grateful for a solid senior class.

"Thankfully, most are coming back," Coach Kim said. "We will really miss Megan and Bianca, but we know they'll be cheering us on from wherever they are—hopefully very close by! We are super excited to have Grace come back next year officially on staff."
