Hawks Battle but Fall With Last Minute Goal

QUINCY, Ill. - The Quincy University Women's Lacrosse team hosted Concordia University-St Paul on Sunday (Feb 12). The Hawks battled and a late goal caused them to lose a close one 11-10.

Amelia Ham got the Hawks scoring going early with a goal at the 9:53 minute in the first quarter. Trailing by one with two minutes left in the quarter Danielle Robinson found the back of the net to tie the game up at 2-2 to end the first quarter. 

The Hawks gave up a goal to start the second quarter but Emily Leal wasted no time tying the game back up at 3-3 a little over a minute later. Goals by Amelia Ham and Danielle Robinson later in the quarter would give QU their first lead of the second quarter at 5-4. But the Golden Bears would score three straight goals with less than four minutes left in the quarter to give them the lead 7-5 heading into half. 

Quincy University would score first in the third quarter as Amelia Ham would score her third goal of the game. Emily Leal would score her second goal of the game to tie the game back up at 7-7 for the Hawks with less than three minutes left in the third quarter. But two late goals by the Golden Bears would give them a 2-point lead going into the 4th and final quarter. 

Amelia Ham would once again find the back of the net for her fourth goal of the match 25 seconds into the fourth quarter. Down by two with less than 5 minutes left in the game Amelia Ham score her fifth goal of the match to bring the Hawks within 1. Bryn Allen would choose a perfect time to score her first career goal as she tied the game at 10-10 with 3 minutes left. But the Golden Bears would score and take the lead 11-10 with 90 seconds remaining and win the game. 

The Hawks will travel to St Louis, Missouri next Sunday (Feb 19) to play against the Maryville Saints for a 12:00 p.m start.
