Quincy, Ill. - The Quincy University women's basketball team finished the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home Classic on Saturday (Nov. 18) against the Washburn Ichabods, falling 97-62.
The Hawks were slow to start, only scoring 17 points in the first half. Washburn's bench racked up 24 points from the bench and scored 10 from turnovers to have a 28-point lead going into the second half.
Something clicked for the Hawks during the halftime talk as they were able to add 29 points to the scoreboard, nine from
Acheampomaa Danso who scored nine in the third quarter and had a season-best 16 points on the game.
The spike in Quincy points did not sustain into the fourth quarter, and the Hawks found themselves in a deeper hole come the final whistle. Danso led the Hawks in points,
Janiece Dawson and freshman
Mariann Blass scoring ten each.
The Hawks look for their first win at William Jewell next Saturday (Nov. 25) as they begin their conference slate.
