Hawks Finish Season on the Road

Romeoville, Ill. - The Quincy University men's soccer team finished its season at Lewis University Sunday afternoon (Oct. 29). The Hawks fell to the second-seeded Flyers 4-2.

The Hawks started the game pinned to their defensive half. Despite the three Flyers goals, freshman George Roke still made five key saves to keep the Hawks within reach.

It took another goal in the second half for the Hawks to get on their horse and make some magic for their final game. Marcel Kaspar broke the barrier for the Hawks in the 67th minute after the Hawks pressed forward on a corner kick. After three attempts at putting the ball into the mix, Alex Lehmann laid the ball off to Kaspar for a strike into the corner.

The Hawks stayed hot for the next few minutes when Ben Scotford copied Kaspar's goal. This time, Rennato Ramos laid the ball off to Scotford, who burried the ball to the far post. The momentum was enough to get the second goal but unfortunately, that's where the goal scoring stopped for the Hawks.

The Hawks finished two spots shy of a conference tournament berth. Freshman George Roke was stellar for the Hawks in net, leading the conference in saves (87), and having three top-ten save performances across the GLVC (Newman, 13; UW-Parkside, 12; Lewis, 8). Eleven different Hawks scored this season, accumulating 24 goals total. Chapman scored the most with four goals, and four Hawks each scored three--Rennato Ramos, Marcel Kaspar, Ben Scotford, and Carter Venvertloh. Ramos led the Hawks with six assists and 12 points.
