QUINCY, Ill. – For the first time since January of 2018, the Hawks have defeated the Maryville University Saints in Pepsi Arena by the score of 84-78. This win surpasses the 2021-22 win total and it's the first time in double digit victories since the 2015-16 season.
Fueled by an 18-4 run at the end of the 3
rd quarter into the beginning of the 4
th quarter, the Hawks used that momentum to hold the lead in the final stanza. As a team, the Hawks shot 28 of 62 from the field, 8 of 20 from three-point territory and 20 of 28 from the free throw line.
Beth Matas Martin led the team with a career-high 33 points. This was the program's first 30-plus point performance since November of 2020.
Emma Knipe also had a career day. She posted 18 points and 13 rebounds. The senior from Warsaw, Illinois also surpassed the 1,000 career point mark with her 10
th point early in the 3
rd quarter.
The Hawks will hit the road on Thursday, February 2
nd as they travel to Romeoville, Illinois for a matchup against the Lewis University Flyers at 5:30 p.m.
