Hawks Reach Double Digit Wins for the First Time in Seven Years

QUINCY, Ill. – For the first time since January of 2018, the Hawks have defeated the Maryville University Saints in Pepsi Arena by the score of 84-78. This win surpasses the 2021-22 win total and it's the first time in double digit victories since the 2015-16 season.

Fueled by an 18-4 run at the end of the 3rd quarter into the beginning of the 4th quarter, the Hawks used that momentum to hold the lead in the final stanza. As a team, the Hawks shot 28 of 62 from the field, 8 of 20 from three-point territory and 20 of 28 from the free throw line.

Beth Matas Martin led the team with a career-high 33 points. This was the program's first 30-plus point performance since November of 2020. Emma Knipe also had a career day. She posted 18 points and 13 rebounds. The senior from Warsaw, Illinois also surpassed the 1,000 career point mark with her 10th point early in the 3rd quarter.

The Hawks will hit the road on Thursday, February 2nd as they travel to Romeoville, Illinois for a matchup against the Lewis University Flyers at 5:30 p.m.
