Quincy, Ill. – Quincy University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics
Josh Rabe is pleased to announce the hiring of Cathy Monroe as the 10
th head coach of the Quincy University Softball program. Monroe comes to Quincy after leading fellow GLVC member Missouri S&T for seven seasons.
"Coach Monroe is the right person to lead our program," said Rabe. "She is a tireless worker and has the vision necessary to advance the softball program. The future of Hawk softball is bright!!"
While leading the Miner program, she had three 20-win seasons. Monroe has also coached six all-GLVC selections in her time in Rolla. During the 2022 season, she kept the Miners in contention for a GLVC tournament spot until the final day of the regular season. On March 14, 2022, she collected her 100
th head coaching win in a 6-3 decision over the William Jewell Cardinals. From the 2021 season to 2022, her team made a significant jump in runs scored and improvement as a pitching staff.

Monroe graduated from Truman State University in 2002 with a bachelor's degree in agricultural science. She also played four seasons for the Bulldogs, while serving as team captain during the 2002 season.
After graduating from Truman State, Monroe went to coach at Lutheran High School South, before returning to her alma mater in 2006 as an assistant coach.
